  2. TWO-PERSON WEIGHTED HANDICAP SCRAMBLE

  3. PINEHURST ALTERNATE SHOT (aka CHAPMAN SYSTEM)

  4. BENEDICT ARNOLD

  5. RYDER CUP

I. TWO-PERSON NET BEST BALL

In this format, both team members play their own ball and record the GROSS scores.

Each player gets strokes on holes using 100% of their handicap. The team score will be calculated after the round using the one best NET score on each hole for the team.

Tie breakers will be broken using a "scorecard playoff" working backwards from the final hole.

II. TWO-PERSON WEIGHTED HANDICAP SCRAMBLE

In this format, both players tee off, both go to the better of the two shots and both hit from there.

The pattern of going to the next best shot and both hitting from there continues until the ball is holed out.

Record a single team score for each hole.

The team handicap will be computed using a weighted average method and will NOT be rounded.

The team handicap will then be subtracted from the team's gross score.

The team handicap will be calculated as follows:

{ [(A Player Handicap) * 0.7] + [(B Player Handicap) * 0.3]} / 2

For example if a team has a 5 and 10 handicap, their scramble handicap would be:

[(5 * 0.7)+(10 * 0.3)]/2 = 3.25.

III. PINEHURST ALTERNATE SHOT (aka CHAPMAN SYSTEM)

Instead of a true alternate shot, it's a format where player A and player B both tee off on every hole.

For the second shots, Player A plays player B's ball and player B plays player A's ball.

Then they decide which ball to play for the remainder of the hole playing a true alternate shot with a single ball for the remainder of the hole.

So for example, players A & B tee off, player A then plays B's ball and Player B plays A's ball on the second shots.

Then they decide the second shot that player B played is the best option from that point.

Since B hit the last shot it's now A's turn to hit, then B's turn, then A, and so on until the ball is holed.

Only one score is recorded for each hole. Only record the GROSS score.

Your team handicap will be an average of the two players' handicaps, and subtracted at the end of the round.

So if player A hdcp = 10, and player B = 2 their alternate shot team handicap will be a 6 = (10 +2)/2.

IV. BENEDICT ARNOLD

In this format, teams will be playing a singles match against their own team partner using full handicap.

V. RYDER CUP

In this format, the non-playoff teams will be split up into 2 teams that will compete against each other in a series of singles matches.

The teams and pairings may be random. Or they may be based on handicap, trying to match up golfers of similar skill against one another.
